We’re celebrating CNA’s for National Nursing Assistant’s Week.
We’re thrilled to feature Sharon Darche from Avita of Stroudwater!
1. Tell me why you enjoy caring for our residents?
I enjoy assisting our residents on a daily basis. I also work on the Positive Change Committee that meets monthly to discuss ideas of associate retention and overall health and happiness. Resident’s need assistance with what most of us do for ourselves on a daily basis. Listening to their stories about their lives & families certainly still teach me a thing or two about life and priorities.
2. What do you consider a success for the residents?
Success for me is when I can keep the residents engaged in things that are still very important to them. And everyone is different. For some it is just being able to continue to do their laundry, help clean up after a meal, and for some it is just being listened to.
3. Tell me what makes Avita a special place to work.
Dementia is not a prejudiced disease. It affects everyone differently. Working at Avita makes me proud and happy that everyone welcomes you with open arms and is very family oriented. We are family and treat each other so.
Sharon Darche is no stranger to caregiving and we are honored she chose Avita as her place to work with our residents. She joined us upon opening in 2013 and we can’t thank her, and the rest of the associates for the excellent care they give and the amount of compassion that shared with our entire Avita family.
